We have the Irvine Spectrum Iceskating rink to ourselves from 6:30-7:30pm. Skates are included. Show up in your ugliest Christmas sweater.

Three times a year, we test our fitness in a series of benchmark workouts. The Winter Forest Games are December 10-20.

Thursdays and Sundays are rest days or makeup days. Missed workout may be made up, but workouts cannot be repeated for a better score. Levels and workouts will be announced.

Forest Turkey Trail Trot

Before you stuff your face and slip into a tryptophan coma, run a 5k on our trail! Everyone is welcome: kids, visiting in-laws, people from other gyms. This is an out-and-back, so it's low stakes for those less inclined to do an entire 5k. 

Raffle tickets handed out on the trail. Wear your finest fanny pack! Or something with pockets.

Our very own Tonia Osborne is going to the Games! She'll compete in Carson at the 2015 CrossFit Games, and we couldn't be more proud. Let's celebrate her achievements with a WOD and pre-Games party.

Forest Fiesta: Freedom Friday

Wear your most patriotic workout clothes and join us in celebrating Independence Day! Heats will run from 4pm to 7pm. Come in, sign up for a heat, do the warm-up provided on the board, and then eat some meat and drink a margarita/sparkling water.

We'll start the grills sometime towards the end of the workouts; we'll provide meat and drinks. Bring a side dish or additional beverage, if you like, but join us whether or not you feel like bringing something.

April Morning Training Camp

Morning Training Camps begin in the middle of every month. The April Training Camp will start on April 16th.

When: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 6-7am.
What: Training Camp is for beginners to learn how to CrossFit.

Forest Fire: Open Heats for Final Event

Forest Fires will occur every Friday night for the duration of the Open. Starting at 4pm, athletes can come in, sign up for a heat, and complete the warm-up we'll provide. There will be judges and a lot of support at these events. The final heat will be at 7pm.

Forest Team Fitness League Deadline

The last day to register for the Forest Team Fitness League is January 9. Don't miss this series! It's going to be ridiculously fun for athletes of every level. Competitions will take place on Saturday morning at 9am in lieu of our regular class. Competition dates are January 17, January 24, February 14, and February 21. If you can't make all four days, not to worry! Just indicate which dates you'll attend on the board when you sign up. The board is between the two rolling garage entrance doors.

Triple whammy! Our doors will open at 4pm so you can sign up for a heat, plug in your crockpot, then hang out and eat after your WOD. Join us October 24 from 6pm-7:30pm for Mental Toughness: Entering the Pain Cave, a presentation by Dr. Ron Gellis, MA, PhD, and three-times CrossFit Games competitor.

 

Have you ever felt disappointed in yourself after a workout, knowing you could have pushed a little harder, rested a little less? Do you let doubt and uncertainty stop you from establishing numbers you know are achievable? Does a fear of failure inhibit your effort? Probably. Because humans are prone to copping out when things get uncomfortable. Although the scope of our potential is enormous, most of us barely scratch the surface of our abilities.


Learn how to recognize, excavate, and harness your capacity with our very own Dr. Ron Gellis. Dr. Gellis, among other things, specializes in Sports Psychology, and is an expert in methods of Mental preparedness for athletes. He has helped special-ops and special forces personnel  prepare for the challenges of military training. He has helped college, professional, and olympic athletes past mental health challenges which threatened to undermine their success. He used these methods himself to become a three-times CrossFit Games athlete, and now he wants to share his approach with his fellow athletes at CrossFit Forest and the CrossFit community at large.

FREE 2 Hour Yoga For CrossFit Workshop

On Saturday, September 6th, join us for a workshop on how yoga can complement your crossfit training.  In this workshop, we’ll learn some basics for alignment in the major joints of the body, focusing on increasing range of motion in the shoulders and hips.  In addition, we’ll practice some stretches you can use on your own in order to keep your body open and to help you recover more quickly from workouts.  And, we’ll practice some more advanced poses in order to learn how to use our existing strength (especially in the core and through the trunk of the body) to create greater balance - you might even stand on your head! 

Date: Saturday, Sept. 6th

Time: 9:45 am - 11:45 am

No cost, and no special equipment needed (although if you have your own mat, you may want to bring it).

About Event
The Strongman Gauntlet Series is an event where all skill levels can compete in a combination of both functional and strongman movements. There are divisions ranging from beginner to advanced. The weights and movements are scaled to accommodate all levels of athletes.

Mobility Hour with Andrew

Cost: Free for Members

When do I stretch? When should I mobilize? What does mobilizing mean? When should I roll out? What do I do if it feels tight when go overhead? If you have any of these questions come to the mobility class Monday August 25th at 7pm with Andrew Saldivar, long time CFF athlete and physical therapist. We will go over any questions that people have about mobility and in the mean time mobilize those common tight spots. We will be getting after hip mobility.

Consider getting your workout on at 6 and then joining him for the Mobility hour at 7. This is open and free for all CrossFit Forest members.
