Just wanted to share this. This is tough for me to share but I'm inspired by so many positive people at the CFF and has totally lifted my spirit. Thank you to the Forest Fam, especially all of the coaches (Pete , Kevin , Skye ,Tess ,Martin and Taylor ) for making a difference in my life. I just finished whole30 and this was my experience:
The ‪#‎whole30‬ was definitely tough. Not gonna lie, I shed some tears and almost had a tantrum when all I wanted to eat was a bowl of ramen on my first week (especially when I was sick with flu) and needed comfort food. So many moments when I wanted to give up but kept thinking about that mantra "don't dare tell us this is hard. Beating cancer is hard. Birthing a baby is hard. Losing a parent is hard." I've experienced natural birth--so this is in no comparison to that. I discovered that I had more discipline and will power than I thought. I hosted a baby shower on our 13th day and while our guests enjoyed the dessert table, I ate my watermelon and stuffed myself with meat and guac. While my family visited and feasted on their in-n-out double double, shake and fries, I had triple patty, grilled onions and roasted potatoes. While my co-workers enjoyed cakes, treats and donuts, I had my Lara bar.
My husband and I enjoy eating out (averaging to almost 50% of our meals). We learned to eat in and cook more...and actually enjoyed prepping and planning our meals. I learned to eat left overs (which is a big deal). I found a new love for coconut aminos, ghee and zoodles. Although I became a sailor--(and cursed a lot in my head) during this process, I'm proud that I pushed through and moved forward. Thankful to my husband,Paul, who joined me in this journey. Our biggest non-scale victory is slaying the sugar dragon and our cravings. Yes, it was hard, but not impossible. As embarrassing as it is to post this picture--it's a way to remind myself that I'm stronger than yesterday. I still have a long way to go but it's a good way to start the year. I'm just happy to be headache free, less bloated, and shedding my very heavy winter coat. Clean eating + ‪#‎crossfitforest‬ = whole new me.
