Introducing "Power Hour...and a half"

Power sport specific athletes can use CrossFit with a bias toward strength and power to train for their unique requirements. These sports include and are not limited to: football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, basketball, water polo, volleyball etc. One of the cool things about CrossFit is that it prepares you for the unknown and unknowable in life. In most sports you never know how the play will unfold, but you can know the time domain. Some sports require long moderate intensity durations. Others require quick bursts of high intensity in short duration. Some are both and in between. ALL SPORTS need development in the 10 physical skills - Power, Strength, Speed, Cardio/Endurance, Stamina, Agility, Balance, Coordination, Flexibility and Accuracy.

We have created a "Power Hour.. and a half" for the power sport athlete. The "hour" is really 1.5 hours. The first half of class is spent strength training and the second is spent on conditioning, agility and mobility.  "Crossfit Power Athletes" is for the player looking to go from a starting position to star athlete, or the athlete looking to go from the bench to playing time. It is the missing link for the athlete looking to maximize their genetic potential. You need not be a power sport specific athlete to participate in this program. This program is perfect for the average CrossFitter with above average conditioning but a deficiency in strength and power.  That being said, this class is available to anyone interested (above average or not) that already moves well, knows their current 1, 3 or 5 rep max on the major lifts - Deadlift, Press, Squat, Power Clean. However, access to the class requires approval from our coaching staff.

Once approved, you can try it for a week before committing to the program. Once committed, there is a $20 monthly add-on to your current membership. In addition to the extra half hour sessions, you will also receive a BodPod assessment once a month.

The training schedule is Monday, Tuesday, off Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Check the online schedule for class times.

We will be using CrossFit Football for our training curriculum and programming. For more information behind the training programming and curriculum please visit select What is CrossFit Football?

In the words of CrossFit Founder Greg Glassman, "I wish we would have called it CrossFit Power Sports, because the CrossFit Football program isn't just for football's works well for all power athletes."

"On a personal note, I was a bench/utility athlete in high school. As in, I was full of hustle and skill but lacked strength and power. I could throw straight strikes almost every time, which made me a perfect batting practice pitcher. I had heart and hustle on the basketball court which made me great for being on the defense practice team. I can only imagine what type of athlete I would have been had I crossfitted back then. I urge any athlete wanting to take their game to the next level to give crossfit a shot." - Pete Jones, Owner, CrossFit Forest
